Heat Treatment

We offer a wide range of heat treatment services including the following:

Carburising

This involves the impregnation of carbon into the surface of a low alloy steel. When quenched this produces a high surface hardness.

Carbonitriding

This involves the impregnation of carbon with nascent nitrogen into the surface ?of mild and low hardenability steels. ?When quenched this produces a high surface hardness.

Harden and Temper

This creates a high strength structure on medium alloy steels by heating and rapid cooling followed by reheating and slow cooling from a reduced temperature.

Induction Hardening

A rapid localised hardening process using a high frequency induced current followed ?by quenching.

Press Quenching

This is the precision quenching of components whilst being pressed to maintain tight tolerances.

Stress Relieving

This involves heating to a relatively low temperature followed by slow air cooling to relieve the build up of internal stresses.

Annealing

This process is undertaken by heating followed by controlled cooling to provide an equiaxed microstructure. It produces excellent machinability with a low ?hardness value.

Normalising

Heating and slow air cooling to remove segregation within a material.
